A gasification/combustion system was designed, built and evaluated to produce clean and hot air from biomass for onfarm applications. The system consisted of a counter-current gasifier attached to a combustion chamber to burn the gas produced. Eucalyptus wood was used as a fuel. In order to reduce heat loss and prevent thermal hazards, the unit was enclosed in a brick-mortar structure. The initial thermal efficiency of about 56% increased to 71% at recharge. It was concluded that this system meets proposed objectives of producing clean hot air that can be used for drying purposes and space heating for animal housing.
