Introducao: A propaganda de medicamentos no Brasil se inicia com a chegada e instalacao da corte portuguesa no pais, o primeiro veiculo utilizado para a propaganda em grande escala foi o Jornal Comercio em 1827 na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Atualmente, o marketing farmaceutico e uma das formas mais utilizadas nas estrategias de venda por parte da industria farmaceutica que acaba influenciando o consumo demasiado de medicamentos colocando em risco a saude da populacao. A automedicacao inadequada, tal como a prescricao erronea, pode ter como consequencia efeitos indesejaveis, mascaramento de doencas evolutivas, representando, portanto, problema a ser prevenido. E primordial a prevencao e o tratamento de doencas, para isso exigem-se infraestrutura adequada, assim como educacao apropriada, uma vez que medicamento nao e bem de consumo, e bem de saude. No entanto, contrariando as normas da Organizacao Mundial de Saude (OMS) e com o auxilio da fragil fiscalizacao brasileira, os laboratorios e as agencias de publicidade estimulam a automedicacao e, isso constitui um perigo a saude publica. Objetivo: Este trabalho teve como objetivo geral a analise de pecas publicitarias de medicamentos isentos de prescricao medica veiculado em emissoras de televisao tendo por base a adequacao das mesmas com a RDC No 96, de 17 de dezembro de 2008. Para isso, foram utilizadas 10 pecas publicitarias de medicamentos isentos de prescricao. Resultados: Como resultados, pode-se constatar e que a maioria e dos medicamentos sao da classe dos analgesicos, antitermicos e para dores em geral. Diversas infracoes foram detectas tais como inducao a automedicacao, ao uso indiscriminado, apelos emocionais, e para ganhar mais midia, a utilizacao de celebridades. Apesar da fiscalizacao crescente o que se pode observar e a falta de descumprimento a lei e a escolha do medicamento com uma unica finalidade de obtencao de receita. Conclusao: O estudo realizado possibilitou identificar o quanto e importante a correta veiculacao das propagandas de medicamentos, ja que as mesmas servem como fonte de informacoes sobre utilizacao geral de tais produtos. ABSTRACT Introduction: The drug advertising in Brazil begins with the arrival and installation of the Portuguese court in the country, the first vehicle used for advertising on a large scale was the Trade Journal in 1827 in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The pharmaceutical marketing is one of the most used in the sales strategies by the pharmaceutical industry which influences the consumption of too much medicine endangering the health of the population. The inappropriate self-medication, as erroneous limitation, may have undesirable effects as a result, masking of progressive diseases, thus representing a problem to be prevented. Prevention and treatment of diseases require adequate infrastructure, as well as appropriate education, medicine is not a consumer good, is good health. However, contrary to the rules of the World Health Organization (WHO) and with the aid of the fragile Brazilian surveillance, laboratories, advertising agencies and encourage self-medication, it constitutes a danger to public health. Objective: This work aimed to the analysis of drug advertisements exempt from prescription aired on television stations based on the adequacy of the same with the RDC No. 96 of December 17, 2008. Results: For this work we used 10 advertisements for OTC drugs. What we can see is that most is the class of drugs are analgesics, antipyretics and pains in general mainly used by the general public. Several violations were detected such as induction of self-medication, the indiscriminate use, emotional appeals, and to make more use of media celebrities. Despite the increased surveillance that can be observed is the lack of non-compliance with the law and treatment of drug with a sole purpose of obtaining revenue. Conclusion: The study also identified how important the correct placement of advertisements for medicines, since they serve as a source of information about general use of such products.
