九州北部普通期水稲(6月下旬移植)において,セジロウンカ雌成虫の産卵による水稲の葉鞘変色が,水稲の生育に及ぼす影響について調査した。1989, 1990年に移植後8, 14日目の水稲に,雌成虫を0∼8頭/株,7日間放飼した。放飼期間終了後,薬剤を用いて残存成虫および次世代の発生を抑えた。1990年には放飼区とは別に飛来成虫を防除した区と無防除区を設けた。1) 放飼終了直後から最高分げつ期にかけて,放飼区では無放飼区にくらべて,また無防除区では防除区にくらべて生育が劣り,茎数,葉面積,乾物重とも低くなった。しかし,最高分げつ期以降,各区間の生育の差は小さくなり,出穂期頃には区間の差はみられなくなった。2) 分光反射率の測定から,近赤外領域の反射率の変化は,LAIが5以下の範囲では,加害を受けた区の葉面積や乾物重の回復過程をよく表すことが明らかとなった。
