ニカメイガ第2世代幼虫の被害に及ぼす深水栽培の影響について調査した。1980年の試験では被害茎率は水深5cm区が最も高く,次いで0cm区であった。水深20cm区は被害茎率,在虫数とも最も低く,ニカメイガ第2世代幼虫の被害防止に最も効果があった。水深10cm区においてもニカメイガの被害防止に効果がみられた。収量は被害が最も多かった5cm区で最低をしめし,20cm区で最高をしめした。1981年の試験においても普通栽培区(水深1∼5cm)より深水栽培区(水深15∼20cm)で,ニカメイガ第2世代幼虫の被害が少なかった。しかしながら,試験田の被害レベルが低かったため,深水栽培による収量への効果は明らかでなかった。
