トビイロウンカの防除適期を知るために,発生経過と処理時期別の効果を調べた。圃場で雌成虫の見取り調査を行なって,第3回成虫期初期,中期,末期,第4回成虫期初期をえらび,MIPC微粒剤をそれぞれ1回散布した。成虫密度,払い落とし調査による幼虫密度の推移,稲の被害を調べ,比較した。効果の高かった処理時期は第3回成虫期の短翅型雌の出現初期および第4回成虫期初期であった。いずれも処理後成幼虫密度を低くおさえ,稲の被害もなかったが,収量的には第3回成虫期の方がややすぐれる傾向を示した。その他の処理時期では成幼虫密度の回復が早く,坪枯れを生じ,補正防除を必要とするような結果を示した。成虫期中期および末期に処理した場合の幼虫密度の回復状況から,用いたMIPC微粒剤の効力は処理後6日程度しか続かなかったものとみられる。これはトビイロウンカの卵期間より短かく,卵の多いこれらの時期の処理が効果の低くなった原因と考えられる。
