In this context, the one-pot three-component synthesis of 3-methyl-4-arylmethylene-isoxazol5(4H)-ones has been performed in the presence of citric acid as catalyst in water. The products have been obtained in high yields (70-90%) and convenient reaction times (5-24 hours).
