The research and development for the seismic simulation of a large plant have been performed to contribute to the establishment of the method to set safety ratio for the standard earthquake vibration for designs of a large plant such as a nuclear plant. It is useful to validate the seismic simulation using observational data in a large plant being a target of the simulation as part of the verification and validation (V&V). It is planned to make a seismic wave to provide the simulation from acceleration data obtained from accelerometer measurement system, to execute the simulation using the seismic wave, and to compare acceleration data obtained as observational results and simulation results. V&V is indicated in ASME V&V10 (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2006) and ASME V&V20 (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2009) published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) outside Japan and in Guideline for Credibility Assessment of Nuclear Simulations (The Atomic Energy Society of Japan, 2015) to be published in the Atomic Energy Society of Japan (AESJ) inside Japan. Those literatures indicate that the process to estimate errors included experimental/observational results and simulation results and the process to compare experimental/observational results and simulation results using estimated errors are needed as part of V&V. Those literatures also indicate the methodology to execute those processes, but do not well indicate specific methods to estimate errors for individual experiments/observations. The reason is probably that the method to estimate errors partly depends on each experiment/observation.
