Techniques to separate a sheet easier from a sheet stack are necessary for sheet feeding systems. And it has been examined to apply a technique to decrease friction force by ultrasonic vibration to a sheet stack separation technique. However, the method was not utilized since the mechanism of friction reduction of sheets by vibration was unclear. Furthermore, the possibility of adapting the method to various features of sheets and the solution of not to scorch the sheets were not examined. In this study, the friction reduction phenomenon has been discussed by investigating the behavior of the oscillated sheet. Also, we have investigated a new sheet stack separation technique that reduces the frictional force of the piled sheet on the basis of clarified friction reduction mechanism. As the results, the friction force of the piled non-air permeable sheet reduced downmost approximately half and the sheet scorching was prevented with the technique. The technique shows the feasibility of a new sheet feeding system that reduces costs, downsizes and reduces noise by using ultrasonic vibration.
