The Great Eastern Japan Earthquake and Tsunami occurred in March 11, 2011, and the accident of TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant occurred due to the earthquake and the tsunami. There have been lots of needs of remote-controlled machine technology including robot technology (RT) for the response of the disaster and the accident. But there was confusion in information sharing, and difficulty in smooth utilization of the disaster response robots or remotely controlled machines. ROBOTAD (Robotics Taskforce for Anti-Disaster) was established in Mar 31, 2011, and carried out activities such as information collection and sharing, technical investigation to introduce equipments to the site, and press release to support Japanese government and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO). In this presentation, such activities of ROBOTAD are introduced, and the issues for the future are discussed in order to prepare for the possible disasters and accidents.
