We calculated the monthly load factor (LF) and equivalent full load hour (EFLH) using the geothermal utilization reports and the reference data for heating and cooling loads by building types. We also identified the difference of EFLH of buildings using the real monitoring data from the GSHP system in buildings. The consumption of geothermal energy which is calculated by EFLH depending on building types is 54.7% of the Korean new & renewable energy supply statistical data in 2013. In case of the amount of heating energy supply for the newly installed GSHP system in 2013, EFLH’s is 61.6% and WGC’s is 44.5% of the result of the traditional method. So, we conclude that the geothermal energy of the official statistics overestimated its actual consumption. We need to apply EFLH by building types to get more accurate and rational statistics of geothermal energy consumption.
