espanolEste articulo se aproxima a uno de los ambitos profesionales donde hay un mayor numero de trabajadores sociales ejerciendo su profesion; este sector no es otro que el de la geriatria y los centros residenciales. Teniendo en cuenta diversos estudios acerca del envejecimiento de la poblacion podemos hacernos a la idea del aumento en la demanda de trabajadores relacionados con el ambito de la dependencia que se ira produciendo en los proximos anos. El texto pretende acercarse a la intervencion social en residencias de mayores realizada por trabajadores sociales y otros profesionales del sector residencial, proponiendo tres aspectos fundamentales a tener en cuenta a la hora de intervenir con los usuarios de los diferentes centros residenciales. Conociendo estos tres ambitos podremos tener una vision general de la situacion del usuario y, de esta forma, crear una herramienta de conocimiento y comunicacion con otros profesionales del ambito sociosanitario. EnglishThis article explores one of the professional spheres with the highest number of social workers practicing their profession: this sphere is none other than geriatrics and residential centres for the elderly. The numerous studies on the aging of the population give an idea of the increase in the demand for social workers in the area of dependence that will take place in coming years. The paper examines the social intervention carried out in senior residential centres by social workers and other professionals and proposes that there are three fundamental aspects that must be considered when intervening with the users of residences. Understanding these three aspects provides a good general vision of the user"s situation and thus makes it possible to create an information and communication tool with other professionals in the network of social care and health services.
