espanolEl presente estudio es el resultado de una investigacion en trabajo social comunitario que pretende conocer las caracteristicas del enfoque del empowerment en el ambito local, a partir de los resultados de una entrevista semiestructurada realizada a trabajadores sociales, otros profesionales, y una entrevista en profundidad realizada a politicos responsables de las areas de bienestar social que prestan sus servicios en el ambito local en diferentes municipios de la Comunidad de Madrid. Partimos de un enfoque basado en el desarrollo de la comunidad, con un importante acento en la construccion y el fortalecimiento de las redes sociales existentes, que permita que los recursos puedan ser movilizados para impulsar un cambio positivo. La conclusion senala algunas implicaciones para la practica del trabajo social y para la investigacion. EnglishThis paper is the result of a community social work research project undertaken to learn about the characteristics of the empowerment approach at the local level. It is based on semi-structured interviews with social workers and other professionals and an in-depth interview with politicians responsible for the areas of social welfare working at the local level in different municipalities in the Community of Madrid. We use an asset-based approach to community development, with a strong emphasis on building and strengthening existing social networks, so that resources can be mobilized to work towards positive change. The conclusion section discusses some implications for social work practice and research.
