DOI: 10.12957/dep.2017.28031 Resumo O estudo analisa o direito das vitimas de participar em processos sobre violacoes de direitos humanos, tal como construido no sistema interamericano, com incidencia em dois planos: a) nos processos movidos internamente nos Estados contra os supostos perpetradores das violacoes, e b) nos processos movidos no plano internacional contra os Estados. Busca-se obter uma maior clareza sobre os contornos, os fundamentos e o significado desse direito, considerando-se, criticamente, os riscos que ele envolve e as reformas institucionais que a sua implementacao demanda. Palavras-chave: Vitimas; violacoes de direitos humanos; direito de participar. Abstract This paper analyzes the development of the victim’s right to participate in cases of human right violations, as defined in the Inter-American System, concerning two different spheres: a) the participation in the domestic trials against the alleged perpetrators of the violations, and b) the participation in the Inter-American cases of human rights violations. The purpose is to provide greater clarity about the configuration, the grounds and the meaning of this right, offering a critical approach of the risks involved and of the institutional reforms required to its effective implementation.
