poultry farms where some chickens had antibodies against Leucocytozoon caulleryi. They were killed by cardiac puncture on February 20, 1980. Of them, 22.9% were positive for antibodies against L. caulleryi. A single schizont was observed in the spleen of chicken No. 9 and in the liver of chicken No.29. The former was 75ƒÊ and the later 80ƒÊ in diameter. The two schizonts were enclosed characteristically in a well marked wall like the smaller 2nd generation schizont of L. caulleryi. They were observed in the surviving chickens of the antibody-positive groups. The detective rate of schizonts in the examined chickens was 4.2 per cent. This report is the first to indicate the detection of schizonts from survivors in winter in which no natural infection with L. caulleryi occurred.
