Vaccination of egg-allergic individuals has been a historical concern, particularly for influenza and measles-mumps-rubella-varicella vaccines that are developed in chicken egg embryos or chicken cell fibroblasts. The egg proteins in these vaccines were believed to trigger an immediate allergic reaction in egg-allergic individuals.
