For some years, many epidemiological studies indicate the great importance and the constant increase of the injury in football trying, some of them, to determine which risk factors are the most important and how they operate in the incidence of injuries of the football player. The aim of the present work is, on the one hand, to describe the injuries (type and gravity) suffered by young football players; and on the other, to analyze the relations between the sports category and the type of injury, the gravity of the injury and the place of occurrence of the injury. The sample is formed by 72 football players, being between 14 and 24 years old, with an average of 17,2 years (± 2,7). The information relative to the sport data and to the injuries was gathered by means of an auto-report questionnaire. The results show that the injuries produced during trainings double to those produced in matches, and that the most frequent injuries are muscular and of slight or moderate character. Besides, the first analysis shows that the sport category seems to influence on the very serious injuries, on the injuries in matches and the injuries in trainings, though significant differences are only found between the young/junior category and the third division with regard to the injuries produced in matches.
