The article describes the tribological tests of "ball on disc" type on the material Astaloy CrL + 0.3 / 0.7%C,  coated with 3 mm layer of TiCN. Coefficients of friction and the weight losses decrease both in dry conditions and in the lubricant were measured and compared with the uncoated sintered state. The results showed a positive effect of coating, such as lower coefficient of friction as well as the overall wear. The fact that as a pin the ball of Al 2 O 3 , with hardness similar to the hardness of the coating was used also influenced the results.
