Effects of applying chloramine-T to the Lowry procedure were further studied. When chlorarmne-T was added to protein samples after addition of the alkaline copper reagent (or the carbonate copper reagent), the resultant standard curves for proteins showed the satisfying linearity with only a slight loss of sensitivity despite considerable nonlinearity of those for proteins measured by the original Lowry procedure. Moreover, the modified Lowry procedures described in this paper were very useful to reduce markedly the blank values of some reducing agents such as L-ascorbic acid, Na2S03, NaHS03, and FeSO4.
