For the recovery of degraded areas in semiarid regions is appropriate the evaluation of cultivars more tolerant to water stress, and millet is a culture that has a potential use for crop production in areas with low rainfall. This research aimed to evaluate the cultivars of millet under water supply in degraded soil, in Iraucuba-CE. The study was conducted in full sun, in pots with soil 12.5 dm, which had low natural fertility, collected in Iraucuba-CE. The evaluated cultivars were ADR500, BRS1501, BRS1502, BRS1503 and IPABulk-1, with four water supply: 100, 80, 60 and 40% depending on the crop evapotranspiration (ETc), which was measured by a Class 'A' Evaporation. Therefore, the desing was completely randomized in a factorial scheme with three replications. Until the 34 day after germination of the plants the amount of water applied was equivalent to 100% of the ETc, and after that, the application of the different water supply was initiated, being the plants conducted for more 14 days, whose biometric variables and chlorophyll content were measured, and the latter analyzed, too, three days after the water application and the end of the test. The decrease of the water supply affected the variables height, root length, number of green leaves, total and SPAD index, regardless of the cultivar. Among the variables, only diameter and SPAD index were significant for interaction between cultivars and water supply in the least amount of water applied (40%), while the lowest values were observed for the cultivars ADR500 and BRS1501, respectively. For the total number of fresh leaves and total of leaves, there was difference from the interaction from water supply of 60%, and in both cases IPABulk-1 and the BRS1503 cultivars excelled, which also decreased the indirect measurement of the chlorophyll three days after the application of different water supply.
