This paper examines recent developments in the role of the university in increasingly knowledge-based societies. The universities play an enhanced role in technological innovation and the relationship between teaching and research is widely being researched. Through this article I will try to draw from my own experiences and try to critically explore how teaching is affecting research and vice versa.
