近年図書館関係者の間で貸出履歴データを図書館サービスに活用していく議論が活発である。議論は図書館総合展など大規模なフォーラムにおいても注目されるようになり実際に貸出履歴を活用した図書館システムを導入する例も出始めている。しかし一方で貸出履歴の活用によって図書館の在り方そのものにどう影響を与えるかについての議論は少ない。本稿では貸出履歴についての議論や活動を解説したうえで近年台頭しつつある新たな図書館サービスと合わせて Web時代にあるべき図書館について検討した。その結果筆者らは貸出履歴の活用方法の4類型を提示し利用者コミュニティーの形成を重視した新たな図書館モデルを提示した。そのうえで図書館の利用者コミュニティー形成を支援するために筆者らが開発したWebサービス「Shizuku2.0」について紹介し今後の展望について記述した
