E lectron ic medical record is an im p orta n t p roduct o f the medical repo rt under the rap id development o f cloud com puting technology, whose presence is convenient fo r the hospita ls and patients to manage the medical reports. H o w ­ ever, i t w ou ld be inev itab ly faced w ith po ten tia l hazards such as the privacy d isc losu re ,illega l access,etc. i f the privacy data about patients are stored in the cloud. T o p ro tect the p rivacy o f the electronic medical records stored in the c loud, an attribu te-based searchable encryp tion scheme was proposed ? and its im p orta n t app lica tion in the electronic medical re­ cord system was given. Compared w ith the trad itio n a l searchable encryp tion scheme, th is scheme does no t need a secure channel fo r the trapdoor tra n s m itt in g , and the d ifficu ltie s in key management fo r m u ltip le users could be reduced. M ore ­ over, the scheme can hide the access s truc tu re and has fine-gra ined access con tro l to add and revoke access r ig h ts o f users according to the request o f data owners. Security analysis shows th a t the scheme can no t on ly p ro tect the privacy o f ke yw o rd s ,b u t also e ffec tive ly resist the a ttack o f keyw ord guessing and prevent the p riva te data fro m leaking out. T he keyword-based trapdoor m atching a lgo rith m requires on ly one com putation o f b ilinea r p a ir in g , g rea tly im proves the searching efficiency.
