T o overcome the effect o f facia l expression and pose on face recogn ition, X u proposed using the o rig ina l and “ sym m etrica l face” tra in in g samples to perfo rm representation based tw o-step face recogn ition. H o w e ve r,i t usua lly gets bad sym m etrica l face samples based on m irro r image w ith the changes o f facia l poses, w h ich m ay affect the accuracy o f recogn ition. A tw o-step face recognition a lg o rith m based on fac to r decomposition model was proposed. F irs t ly , to reduce the effect o f lig h t,p o se and other fa c to rs, the facto riza tion model is used to separate the uexpression facto rs^ and uiden­ t i t y fac to r^ fro m the face images w h ich can be co n tro lle d, to construct new image samples. M ea n w h ile, the tw o-step face recogn ition m ethod is adopted in the recognition stage, w h ich makes fu l l use o f the advantage o f the score level fu s io n, and fu rth e r im proves the recognition rate o f the proposed a lgo rith m .
