T he enorm ous m odel data and com plex m orpho logy o f the 3D rendering and roam ing on m obile p la tfo rm m ake i t ve ry d iffic u lt to render the th ree-d im ension scene c le a rly and q u ic k ly. In o rde r to speed up the m odel ren d e rin g, an op tim ized rendering a lg o rith m was proposed. 3D m odels w ere s im p lifie d by quadric e rro r m etrics h a lf edge collapse. A n d octree was used to achieve read ,o rgan ize and fa s t draw 3D m odels by c u llin g the scene ra p id ly w h ich is n o t neces­ sary in rendering. A s the lim ita tio n s o f screen size and com puting pow er on m obile devices, a c o llis io n detection algo­ r ith m fo r m obile p la tfo rm s was p u t fo rw a rd. E xpe rim en ta l resu lts show th a t th is m ethod can e ffe c tive ly s im p lify m odels and reduce the am ount o f com puta tion. T h u s, i t can be applied to re a lis tic fa s t rendering o f 3D scene.
