Background Approximately two thirds of migraine patients complain of cutaneous allodynia (CA) which is defined as a pain perception evoked by ordinary non-nociceptive skin stimulation in cephalic regions during migraine attacks. CA may be underlied by the sensitization of second-order trigeminovascular neurons, belonging to the trigeminalthalamo-cortical pathway.
