Communities, knowledge, climate, threatened species, roads, trees, animal habitats—these are just a few of the intertwined terms defining the contributions to Volume 10, Issue 3, of the BC Journal of Ecosystems and Management . A reoccurring theme throughout this issue is community . Bill Bourgeois’ perspective paper examines how an evolving forest sector has created a crisis within forest-dependent communities . He suggests that these communities can deploy resources efficiently and effectively by identifying a vision and goals for community resiliency . Chris Joseph and Ajit Krishnaswamy also focus on community resiliency . Through a thorough literature review, they identify 15 resiliency factors that contribute to successful transitions away from a heavy economic reliance on the forest sector to a more diversified, sustainable economy .
