The mailed catfish Planiloricaria cryptodon (Isbrucker, 1971) was hitherto only known from the holotype from Rio Ucayali, Peru. New material from Rio Purus (Est. Acre, Brazil) and from Rio Mamore (Prov. Beni, Bolivia) is described and compared with the holotype. One of the new specimens is illustrated. A key to the genera of the subtribe Planiloricariina (tribe Loricariini of the subfamily Loricariinae) is added.
