Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) wirelessmesh networks (WMNs) aim to provide the last-mile broadbandwireless access to the Internet. Along with the algorithmic developmentfor WMNs, some fundamental mathematical problemsalso emerge in various aspects such as routing, scheduling, andchannel assignment, all of which require an effective mathematicalmodel and rigorous analysis of network properties. Inthis paper, we propose to employ Cartesian product of graphs(CPG) as a multichannel modeling approach and explore aset of unique properties of triangular WMNs. In each layer ofCPG with a single channel, we design a node coordinate schemethat retains the symmetric property of triangular meshes anddevelop a function for the assignment of node identity numbersbased on their coordinates. We also derive a necessary-sufficientcondition for interference-free links and combinatorial formulasto determine the number of the shortest paths for channelrealization in triangular WMNs
