COURSE AND PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS I (Ed~. Since I have received several contributions concerning Computer Science Course and Program Descriptions, I have decided to adopt the following policy with regards to this section of the Bulletin I will consider for publication such course and program material that reflects the general approach and goals the program is attempting to implement. I am not willing to simply publish a catalog list of courses (with or without descriptions) since I do not think the Bulletin should be used as a vehicle to advertise any set or subset of programs in Computer Science. However, I certainly am w~lling and anxious to publish reports of programs (courses) that reflect an approach which might aid other people who are interested in implementing similar programs. Thus, I am not trying to discourage contributions to this section of the Bulletin, but I do think that this material should reflect more of a pro-gram's overall objectives than is usually found in the standard university undergraduate and graduate catalogs. Thus, I hope the two contributions which appear in this section in this issue are not only interesting to our members but, in addition, reflect the general criteria which I have outlined above.) will offer for the first time in September 1969 an Interdisciplinary Program with emphasis in Computer Science leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree. Although all University College students are encouraged to take courses in computer science in order to gain experience in computing techniques, the particular purpose of this Program will be to prepare students who are interested in graduate work in computer science, or a professional career in the computing field, within the context of achieving a broad education in the arts and sciences. Students in the Program will become familiar with a wide range of computer science and related material by taking courses in computer science as well as in a variety of other disciplines which are collateral to computer science, such as mathematics, electrical engineering, and psychology. Students admitted to the Program will work closely with a faculty member of the Department of Computer Science. A program of courses will be developed which is oriented toward the student's computer science and secondary academic interests.
