With the increasing use of computing systems in such crucial areas as medicine and space, there has come a great need for computers that remain operational in spite of hardware failures. This paper introduces a new architecture for fault-tolerant computing using fail-safe modules in a redundant scheme. The voting circuit for this redundant scheme highly reliable since it consists of only one gate. Yet, this new architecture will tolerate up to n-@ failures in an n module system. The advantages and disadvantages of this architecture are outlined.
