The multi-hop wireless networks developed by the FP6 IST ADHOCSYS project provide a cost-effective sol ution for providing broadband acess in mountaino us regions. The solution is based on ad hoc networking technologies, created using cheap off-the-shelf hardware equipment, open source software, and an enhanced version of the OLSR routing protocol. This paper describes the implementation, inst allation and deploy ment aspects of the project, focusing on current deployment of a pilot network further to the s imulation results reported by the authors on [4].
