Work on the Transport Service Definition has been underway within SC 16/WG 6 for several years. During their meeting in Ottawa, October 1983, SC 16 determined the need for an Addendum to the Transport Service Standard for Connection-less Mode Data Transmission. Document ISO/TC 97 N 1253 (SC 16 N 1700), Proposal for a New Work Item - Addendum to the Transport Service Standard for Connectionless Mode Data Transmission, was approved by TC 97 in February 1984 and assigned to SC 16 for development as project 97.16.13 (ref. 97 N 1308). In accordance with Resolution 02(A) taken in Ottawa,document ISO/TC 97/SC 16 N 1703, Addendum to the Transport Service Definition Covering Connectionless Mode Transmission, was circulated to SC 16 Member Bodies and Liaison Organizations in March 1984 for a three month letter ballot as an Addendum to DIS 8072. At its meeting in Copenhagen, June 1984, SC 16/WG 6 reviewed the comments received as a result of the ballot on ISO/TC 97/SC 16 N 1703 (ref 97/16 N 1875) and as a result produced a revised document, ISO/TC 97/SC 6 N 3221 (97/16 N 2008). In accordance with Recommendation 6.39 (CNX3) taken at the Copenhagen meeting, document ISO/TC 97/SC 6 N 3221, Addendum to the Transport Service Definition Covering Connection-less Mode Transmission, DIS 8072 DAD 1 Revised, is herewith circulated for a 60-day letter ballot, having considered comments received in response to the first letter ballot.
