Spin Hall effects interconvert spin- and charge currents due to spin-orbitinteraction, which enables convenient electrical generation and detection ofdiffusive spin currents and even collective spin excitations in magneticsolids. Here, we review recent experimental efforts exploring efficient spinHall detector materials as well as new approaches to drive collectivemagnetization dynamics and to manipulate spin textures by spin Hall effects.These studies are also expected to impact practical spintronics applicationsbeyond their significance in fundamental research.
