We present a detailed derivation of the electromagnetic force density andpressure in linear dielectric media according to the so-called MicroscopicAmp\`ere formulation, which considers the classical dipolar sources in matteralong with the hidden momentum contribution. It is seen that, among the otherformulations existing in the literature, our proposal is the only onesimultaneously compatible with the experimental works reported to date and withthe absence of magnetic monopoles in nature. A new radiation pressure equationfor non-magnetic dielectrics under oblique illumination from p-polarized beamsis also derived.
