In this work we make use of proper-time method to evaluate Schwinger effectin the presence of Lorentz-violating background fields. Specifically, weevaluate the one-loop effective Lagrangian in the presence of Lorentz-violatingtime-like vector background $b_\mu$ and pseud-scalar $m_5$ for the pureelectric case. The imaginary part of the effective Lagrangian is computed inorder to calculate the Schwinger effect. Comments on phenomenology are alsoperformed.
