Measurements of momentum space correlations in heavy ion reactions are aunique tools to investigate the properties of the created medium. However,these analyses require the careful handling of the final state interactionssuch as the Coulomb repulsion of the involved particles. In small systems suchas $e^+ + e^-$ or $p+p$ the well-known Gamow factor gives an acceptabledescription but in the case of extended sources like that are created in heavyion collisions, a more sophisticated approach has to be developed. In thispaper we expand our previous work on the investigation of the Coulomb finalstate interaction in the presence of a L\'evy source. Such sources were shownto be a statistically acceptable assumption to describe the quantumstatisticalcorrelation functions in high energy heavy ion reactions.
