Origami is Japanese paper folding. A good point of the origami is that the shape is fixed by using folding, not glues. Origami technology is useful for manufacturers in replacing optical components. In this paper, the authors propose the fixing method of a photomask. We have been developing real-time 3D displays using holographic screen constituted by holographic optical elements (HOEs). It takes many exposures to record HOEs on a holographic material using the photomask with holes. It needs much times to wait for vibration to settle although the exposure times are very short. So we have developed a novel photomask system in order to detach masks so that the optical table is not vibrating. We can have easily made an HOEs screen with various characteristics of diffractions by using our proposed technique.
