This communication compares the methods used to account for sheets thinner than the cell size of the finite-difference time-domain method. The comparison relies on the reflection and transmission of plane waves. It is shown that the Maloney and Smith method is the best. In contrast to the other methods, it provides correct reflection and transmission coefficients for any incidence angle.
