This paper is coiiccriied with the problem of tlesigg optimal multirate filter banks. Three desigii crit.eria are considered for linear phase FIR filter hik5: H’ measure, H, aid the mixture of them. -4 closetl-fnriii solution is preseiit.ed for optimal Hz filter bail; tlcssigii. For optimal H, filter bank design, two algoritliiiis are given which involve solving the design probhn risiiig positive semi-definite programming techniques. The mixed H2/H, desigii problem is also solved. Tlie results of this paper are excepted to be useful in applications sucli as speecli codmg, sampling rate coiiv(.wim and multi-stage filtcriiig.
