The IIR adaptive line enhancer exists in simplified form with a resonator as the adaptive filter, and is suited to the recovery of a sinusoidal signal in noise. Several different adaptation algorithms have been proposed, and a brief comparison is made between the PLR and small step approximations to the LhIS strategy and the NLMS, in terms of convergence time and SNRgain. Variation ofboth pole frequency and radius is shown to have limited benefit, but a two-stage filter appears to achieve a good compromise between the dual targets of fast convergence and good SNR improvement.
