This paper focus on the speech signal decomposition problem between a deterministic and a stochastic part. The proposed approach is based on a Harmonic plus Noise model. The deterministic part which accounts for the periodic structure of the speech signal, assumed to contain only harmonically related sinusoids with timevarying harmonic amplitudes and phases. The proposed method makes use of a third order polynomial with real coefficients for the harmonic amplitudes and a first order polynomial for the phases (linear phase). The stochastic part is obtained by simply subtracting in the time domain the deterministic part from the original speech signal. The proposed model has been shown to be an effective speech model, capable of efficiently decomposing the speech signal between the two parts.
