In the title compound, [Ni(C 11 H 15 N 2 S)(C 7 H 7 OS)] or [Ni(NN Im S)(4-OCH 3 PhS)] (NN Im S = 2-{[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]iminomethyl}benzenethiolato), the Ni II  cation is coordinated by a tridentate NN Im S ligand and a monodentate thiolate ligand giving an N 2 S 2  coordination set defining an almost square-planar environment. The Ni—N amine  bond in the coordination plane is approximately 0.1 Å longer than the Ni—N imine  bond.
