The title compound, C 16 H 12 N 2 O, exists in the crystalline state as the 5-imino-3,4-di­phenyl­-1 H -pyrrol-2-one tautomer. The dihedral angles between the pyrrole and phenyl rings are 35.3 (2) and 55.3 (2)°. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds generate a graph-set motif of  R   2   2 (8)  via  N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds.
