The title compound, C 12 H 9 FN 2 O, is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation for the 16 non-H atoms = 0.019 Å), a conformation stabilized by an intra­molecular O—H⋯N hydrogen bond, which generates an  S (6) ring. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds generate  R22 (16) loops.
