In the title complex, [Mn(C 6 H 4 NO 2 S) 2 (C 12 H 8 N 2 )] or [Mn L2 (phen)] ( L  = 2-mercaptonicotinate and phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), the central Mn II  atom is coordinated by two carboxylic O atoms and two thiol­ate S atoms of two  L  ligands and two N atoms from one phen mol­ecule, giving a distorted octa­hedral geometry. The pyridyl H atoms form strong N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds with the carbonyl O atoms of the adjacent mol­ecules, generating a chain structure propagating in [100].
