The title complex, [Ni 4 (C 36 H 40 N 2 O 2 ) 2 (OH) 4 (C 3 H 9 OP) 2 (H 2 O) 4 ]·2C 4 H 10 O·2C 3 H 9 OP·2H 2 O, is centrosymmetric with a central core that can be described as a defect double cubane. The four metal ions in the cluster are held together by four bridging hydroxide groups. Each Ni II  atom adopts a distorted octa­hedral geometry.
