In the title compound, {[Cu4(C16H6O9)2(C14H14N4)4]&#183;H2O}n, the water molecule is disordered over two positions; site-occupancy factors were fixed at 0.25. The CuII atom exhibits a square-planar coordination geometry with two O atoms of the two 4,4&#8242;-oxydiphthalate ligands and two N atoms of the two 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene groups.
