Using the Drude-Boltzmann semiclassical transport theory, we calculate theweak-field Hall resistance of a two-dimensional system at low densities andtemperatures, assuming carrier scattering by screened random charged impuritycenters. The temperature dependent 2D Hall coefficient shows strikingnon-monotonicity in strongly screened systems, and in particular, wequalitatively explain the recent puzzling experimental observation of adecreasing Hall resistance with increasing temperature in a dilute 2D holesystem. We predict that the impurity scattering limited Hall coefficient willeventually increase with temperature at higher temperatures.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure
