We consider the frequency dependent Coulomb interaction between electrons ina molecular metal in the limit in which the conduction bandwidth is much lessthan the plasma frequency, which in turn is much less than intramolecularexcitation energies. In particular, we compute the effective interactions atthe Fermi energy in alkali-doped C$_{60}$, to second order in the screenedinteractions. The frequency dependence of the screening substantially reducesthe effects of the long-range part of the Coulomb interaction, leading to thepossibility of an effective attraction between electrons.Comment: 10 pages with four uuencoded PostScript figures appended, RevTeX 3.
