We present the first fully unrestricted microscopic calculations of theprimary fission fragment intrinsic spins and of the fission fragments' relativeorbital angular momentum for $^{236}$U$^*$, $^{240}$Pu$^*$, and $^{252}$Cfusing the time-dependent density functional theory framework. Within thismicroscopic approach, free of restrictions and unchecked assumptions and whichincorporates the relevant physical observables for describing fission, weevaluate the triple distribution of the fission fragment intrinsic spins and oftheir fission fragments' relative orbital angular momentum and show that theirdynamics is dominated by their bending collective modes, in contradistinctionto the predictions of the existing phenomenological models and someinterpretations of experimental data.
